Surroundings and personalities
One, who schedules trip to Jesenice, surely uses the opportunity to explore the surroundings, because Jesenicko is the paradise for a tourists, pickers and sights lovers. Around Jesenice is a large amount of ponds and forests which creates the ideal conditions for a walks. Due to the fact of mining granite here, we can find here many former quarries, some are flooded and they are used for filming. The trail of Jesenicko will lead us through “Krtské skály” (rocks) to the ruins of the castle Petrohrad. By car you can also visit nearby castle “Krasný dvůr” (Beautiful courtyard, “Chýše” (the Hut) or to Rabštejn nad Střelou. The closest cities are Rakovník and Kralovice. We can provide you with detailed touristic informations in the museum.
Karel Fibiger
He was first postwar director of town school, educational worker, local patriot, archivist, co-founder of the museum and historic of Jesenicko. He was successful in gathering valuable documents for the future museum. He also wrote the history of Jesenicko.
Karel Nebeský a Hermína Nebeská
The husband and wife Nebeský were working in the pharmacy of Jesenice, they had lively social life and very devotedly they worked with children. They led boating club, and later natural science and geography club. Karel Nebeský in cooperation with Karel Fibiger founded museum in Jesenice, where Karel Nebeský was his manager. They also founded Puppet Theater.
Franz Fassl
He was the mayor of Jesenice in 1888 – 1918. He was responsible for modernization of the country town of Jesenice and its unprecendented blossoming. While in function, the rail way Rakovník – Bečov, new water network and beautiful building of a school were build. The sickhouse for the elderly citizens was a great building.
